TB-500 is the synthetic form of thymosin beta-4, a 43-amino-acid peptide with the formula C212H350N56O78S and a molecular weight of about 4,963 g/mol. The natural version was first pulled from calf thymus tissue in the 1960s, during work on thymus gland extracts.
In solution it doesn’t fold into a fixed shape the way many larger proteins do. It stays loose and flexible. The part researchers care most about is a central actin-binding stretch. How to store TB-500
For long-term storage, keep TB-500 frozen. For short periods the fridge is fine, at 36 to 46 °F (2 to 8 °C). After reconstitution, keep it cold and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Most labs reconstitute with Research Water, which is sterile-filtered water with 0.9% benzyl alcohol.
When it’s time to reconstitute, let the vial come to room temperature first. Add the solvent slowly down the inside wall of the vial so it doesn’t hit the powder directly, then swirl gently until the liquid is clear. Don’t shake it. Write the date on the label so you know how long it’s been mixed.
