What is thymulin?
Thymulin is a nonapeptide with the sequence Pyr-Ala-Lys-Ser-Gln-Gly-Gly-Ser-Asn, where Pyr is pyroglutamate. It was isolated and characterized in 1977 from thymic epithelial cells. Without zinc it has the formula C33H54N12O15 and a weight of about 858 g/mol.
The interesting part is the zinc. Thymulin needs a zinc ion to fold into its working shape. Without it, the chain stays unfolded. The vials we sell are metal-free.

What researchers study thymulin for
Thymulin is studied as a thymic hormone involved in T-cell development, in animal and cell models. For lab research only. See NIH PubChem.
How to store thymulin
Keep it refrigerated at 36 to 46 °F (2 to 8 °C). It’s soluble in water.
Most labs reconstitute with Research Water, which is sterile-filtered water with 0.9% benzyl alcohol.
When it’s time to reconstitute, let the vial come to room temperature first. Add the solvent slowly down the inside wall of the vial so it doesn’t hit the powder directly, then swirl gently until the liquid is clear. Don’t shake it. Write the date on the label so you know how long it’s been mixed.

Thymulin FAQ
Is thymulin the same as Thymalin?
The compound in our Thymalin listing is the same synthetic nonapeptide. The name Thymalin originally meant a Russian thymus extract.
Why does thymulin need zinc?
Zinc binding is what folds it into its active shape.
Is Thymulin 5mg for human use?
No. It’s sold for laboratory research only. It isn’t approved for human or veterinary use, and we don’t give dosing advice.
